In June 2019, 1 Vision Solar partnered with Evans Electrical to install a 6 kWp SolarEdge photovoltaic (PV) system at Gabalfa Primary School in Cardiff. This initiative aimed to enhance the school's energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint.
System Components and Design
The installation comprised 24 solar panels, each equipped with a P300 optimiser, facilitating individual panel performance monitoring and optimisation. The panels were arranged in two strings of 12, connected using a standing seam mounting system. This non-penetrative method preserves the roof's integrity while ensuring secure attachment.
Installation Process
1 Vision Solar's team of MCS-accredited installers completed the project within five days, ensuring minimal disruption to the school's daily activities. The efficient installation process underscores the team's commitment to delivering high-quality renewable energy solutions promptly.
Environmental and Financial Impact
The solar PV system is projected to generate approximately 5,202 kWh of renewable energy annually, leading to an estimated reduction of 3,600 kg in CO₂ emissions each year. Financially, the system is expected to yield a return on investment of £15,606 over 20 years, demonstrating the economic benefits of adopting renewable energy solutions.
